FAVORITE POEMS

I remember reading and discussing this poem when I was in school.  I love winter and snow and I thought it was “cool” that the poet’s name was Frost.

Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening
by: Robert Frost

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound’s the sweep
Of the easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

I also like anything from Shel Silverstein and my students do too!

GOD’S WHEEL

God says to me with kind of a smile,

“Hey how would you like to be God awhile

And steer the world?”

“Okay,” says I, “I’ll give it a try.

Where do I set?

How much do I get?

What time is lunch?

When can I quit?”

“Gimme back that wheel,” says God,

“I don’t think you’re quite ready yet.”

You I Peom is very creative. I really like the way you wrote your poem within a cloud. Very cute and creative. Way to go!

I especially like the reason behind the concrete poem. The poem is great and a wonderful memory for you and Mackenzie to remember your trip.
